From the moment we walked in, the owners made us feel right at home. They were incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The restaurant itself was spotless, which made for a very pleasant dining atmosphere. We started with the rice and beans, which were full of flavor and a perfect accompaniment to our meal. The shrimp and steak tacos were absolutely to die for—especially with the homemade corn tortillas that added the perfect touch. And let’s not forget the salsa—simply fabulous, with just the right amount of kick! Overall, we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend El Charro to anyone looking for great Mexican food. Can’t wait to go back!

It's a really unique place. The tables and chairs are all hand painted, lots of televisions (sports bar feel) and clean. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. It will give the other local places a run for their money IF business picks up. I highly recommend the food.

Traveling through the area and I ordered the Charro Chicken; the cheese sauce was amazing. Wife was impressed with the Flautas. Bar area had several TVs for sporting events. Nice size dining room that can accommodate different groups of guests.

Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at the new El Charro Bar and Restaurant, and I must say, the experience was impressive from start to finish! Upon arriving, I was initially a bit skeptical, as the parking lot was fairly empty. In my experience, a quiet lot often hints at an underwhelming atmosphere or lackluster food. But I was hungry, craving Mexican food, and decided to trust my instinct to give it a try. I’m so glad I did! Walking inside, I was immediately struck by the unique ambiance—a charming blend of restaurant and sports bar, tastefully designed with authentic touches of Mexican culture. The decor struck a perfect balance: vibrant and genuine without feeling overwhelming. From the colors and wall art to the subtle decorations, music, and even the table covers, everything reflected the warmth and vibrancy of Mexican culture, sparking my excitement to taste their food. Being from Southern California and El Paso, Texas, I know how hard it can be to find authentic Mexican flavors here in Tennessee. So when our friendly hostess promptly greeted us and seated us, my anticipation grew. The evening’s special was margaritas, and with tempting flavor options, I couldn’t resist trying both the mango and strawberry margaritas. The menu offered a diverse selection, but one item caught my eye: Tacos de Papa—a childhood favorite that took me back to cherished memories of sharing this dish with my father. I added rice and beans to my order, knowing these staples would reveal just how authentic and flavorful this place truly was. My girlfriend opted for the chicken taco salad. As we sipped our margaritas, which were as delicious as they looked, we were brought a complimentary basket of chips and salsa—an ideal pairing that amplified the laid-back, welcoming vibe of El Charro. It was beginning to feel like we had stumbled upon a hidden gem. To our surprise, Angel, the owner and chef, stopped by our table, introduced himself, and welcomed us warmly. His friendliness and passion for his restaurant added such a personal touch to our experience. He shared that El Charro was just a few months old—a detail that only added to the sense of discovery. Then, the moment of truth arrived: our food. Presented beautifully, the dishes looked every bit as good as I had hoped. But, of course, taste is what matters most, and El Charro did not disappoint. My Tacos de Papa transported me back to my childhood with each bite, and the rice and beans were as flavorful and comforting as the ones my mom used to make. My girlfriend, who rarely takes leftovers, couldn’t finish her chicken taco salad but loved it so much that she asked for a to-go box. In short, our visit to El Charro was an absolute delight, from the warm welcome and authentic atmosphere to the incredible food and drinks. Angel and his team have created something truly special here, and we’re thrilled to have discovered it. This is a place we’ll definitely return to, and we look forward to seeing it flourish. Thank you, Angel, and the El Charro team, for a memorable evening and for making us feel right at home!

Well, hello Aunt Effie's! So the wife and I went antuquing up in the Ringold Georgia area over the past weekend. While we were out picking, we asked around for the best place to grab lunch, NOT a chain restaurant! Boom! Aunt Effie's is the place! Gotta say that this local funeral was amazing! We sat ourselves and were waited on in no time and soon had our drinks. We looked over the menu, and it was perfect. Just what we were looking for. I had a hand battered chicken breast with creamed potatoes and mac and cheese. When I asked if I wanted cornbread or rolls, I answered....yes! She looked at me and said, "I know just what you want!" Then proceeded to bring me both! Score!! My wife had the loaded baked potato and a bowl of homemade beef and vegetable soup. She was amazed at the amount of toppings on the taters and the beef in the soup. All in all, i must say, Aunt Effie's is THE place to go in Ringold if you want great food, great service, and great pricing! Definitely recommend Aunt Effie's!

Ah, the Frisco Melt from Aunt Effie's—a culinary revelation draped in nostalgic charm, where comfort meets indulgence, and decadence becomes an art form. This gastronomic marvel beckons with its golden, toasted exterior and promises a sensory journey unparalleled. The bread, crisp yet yielding, is toasted to perfection, embracing the essence of the melt with buttery devotion. It forms a sanctuary for the riches within, a cradle for a medley of textures and flavors. Each bite of this crust whispers of home kitchens and seasoned skillets, of love infused into the mundane. At the heart lies the patty—a symphony of savory, char-grilled ecstasy. Juicy and tender, it holds a secret within its folds: the perfect mingling of melted cheese, cascading like molten gold. This duet of beef and cheese is a celebration of culinary harmony, where the richness of the meat waltzes with the creamy allure of cheddar. Above this foundation, layers of fresh vibrance unfold. Crisp lettuce adds a note of verdant brightness, a whisper of health amidst the indulgence. Slices of tomato, plump and ruby-red, bring a tangy sweetness that dances across the palate, a reminder of summer gardens and sun-drenched days. And then, the sauce—a mysterious alchemy of tangy, savory, and creamy notes that ties it all together. It seeps into every crevice, every fold, uniting the disparate elements into a masterpiece of flavor. It is both glue and glory, a testament to Aunt Effie's genius. To partake in the Frisco Melt is to revel in an experience. It is a bite of nostalgia wrapped in culinary innovation, a tribute to all that is comforting and familiar, yet elevated to the extraordinary. It is a dish that whispers of Aunt Effie’s passion and commitment to flavor, inviting all who dare to take a bite to step into her world of edible wonders. This creation, this Frisco Melt, is not just food—it is a story. A story of care, of tradition, of the eternal pursuit of the perfect bite. It is the kind of dish that lingers long after the last crumb has vanished, a memory etched in the heart and on the taste buds. Aunt Effie, with her Frisco Melt, has not just served a sandwich. She has served an experience, a moment of bliss that demands to be savored and celebrated. For in the golden crunch of the bread, the molten embrace of the cheese, and the harmonious medley of toppings, lies a love letter to all who seek joy in the simple pleasures of food.

Came here cause the reviews were great and as long as I’ve lived in Ringgold I’ve never ate downtown. Sadly to say this was pretty rough. Service was good. Friendly. Food was just plain awful. I had high hopes cause some of it looked really good! But the portions were small and food was as bland and appetizing as an old shoe. (The photo I included says it all) they some how made a hotdog on dry kraut look like a turd. We thought it was supposed to be a sausage but it was just a burnt hotdog. The meat loaf was eh at best. Bland taste to everything. Needless to say it was bad just like most restaurants in Ringgold. Good service though. Just look at that photo and tell me you would eat that. Sheesh. 😬

Nothing quite like a meat and three for comfort food while travelling. I'd read review that recommended the fried pork tenderloin and the review was absolutely accurate... SCRUMPTIOUS!! The sweet potato casserole and the corn fritters were also off the chart tasty. Like most good meat and three restaurants, it's not a fancy place, but there's a little more satisfying than a good selection of mix and match meat and vegetable choices. And it's a nice stop to get off the highway for a moment. We will probably stop by again when we're traveling to Atlanta again.

Just passing through Ringgold on a road trip to Florida. What a great choice we made! The fried catfish was incredible and everyone in this town is just so friendly and kind. The service reflected the general vibe of the whole place. It is so refreshing to be in a place where people are interacting with one another and looking up from their phones to experience real life. Loved Aunt Effie’s all around!

Excellent food and service! Glad this place opened and is within 10 minutes from home. The whole family went last weekend, sat on the deck, and enjoyed some quality family time picnic-style. We loved every item we ordered, handmade hot and fresh right off the grill. The Papa J's burrito my husband and I got were AMAZING! I tried my daughters BLT, and it was so good I'm ordering that tonight. We had 2 orders of crispy delicious onion rings and probably could've eaten a third if we weren't already stuffed full they were so good. Thick bacon, quality meat and fresh ingredients, you just can't beat it. The prices are great too! 100% recommend you try this place and willing to bet your first time won't be your last!

The staff is great! The front porch dining with a patriotic theme was really. They only have outdoor seating so be prepared to grab and go or bundle up during these winter cold spells. The place has a very tight small parking lot but we went around 6pm on a Saturday and had no problems finding a parking. I called in my order ahead of time for a grab & go. I ordered the cheeseburger special with tots and my wife got the cheeseburger with fries. We wanted to be adventurous and show support to our new local restaurant so we added onion rings, cheese stick and jalapeño poppers. The burgers seemed to be a thick hand pattie pressed beef and were cooked well with just a little outside crisp. They came fully dressed with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickle. The bun was an average sized flat toasted bun and held the burger with toppings together well. For the price, size, and taste I would give the burger a 7 out of 10. The Tots were really good and had a perfect crisp/crunch. They were not too salty and went well with the burger. I love Tots and give them a 8 out of 10 for the crisp, the basket quantity and of course the taste. The fries were crinkle style and were lightly salted. There was alot of fries in the order, as with the tots. The fries fall off on my rating because the were stiff and kind of tasteless. I would have to give the fries a 2 out of 10 for appearance, quantity and taste. They are still a young business and I'm sure they are still finding their way with the menu items. The onion rings were good and probably better if we had ate them there but in the bag they got a little limp on the ride home. They tasted ok and once again a large portion of onion rings were served. Without taking in to account the ride home in the bag, my wife gives the onion rings a 9 out of 10. The 6 piece jalapeño poppers were like the standard type served in restaurant but the crisp on these was great! I give the poppers a 9 out of 10. The 3 piece mozzarella cheesesticks were the average served in most restaurants but had the crisp like the poppers and the tots. I give these sticks a 8 out of 10 for size, portion and taste. This place is a new go for me. I look forward to my next visit for their catfish platter with tots, coleslaw and Texas toast.

I was shocked to see how much burger you actually get. If you’re used to fast food like Cookout, McDonald’s, Hardee’s, etc. then those are nothing compared to the fresh, thick, quality hamburger you can get here at Papa Js. A plus is that’s it’s family owned and operated so they actually care about your food and service compared to many chain restaurants. Just go here if you’re debating whether to or not. It’s worth it.

I love the El Agave quesadilla and El Agave burrito! I stumbled on if you get the El Agave burrito and cut it all up and mix it real good after adding about half a side of their fries and adding an entire bowl of their red salsa it is AMAZING!!!! See pics The El Agave burrito has Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, Chorizo, with rice n beans and some salsa verde it sits in on the plate. They pour some queso over it too. They add onions into the burrito but I tend to pick out the big chunks of onion because I tend to prefer onions a bit more chopped up I do love to get a soft shell carne asada taco as well as they are very good too. I think this place is better now than when it used to be Tres Amigos. Back then I didn’t eat there and now I definitely do. I came back and got the El Agave Nachos substitute nachos for Fries and OMG! It is 17.99 but worth it and I need two bowls of salsa to dump on it…mmmmmmm! Foodgasm

We got here at 5:30 on a Sunday afternoon just before the crowd came in plus the service & food was excellent. Great place in Ringgold, Ga right by the old railroad depot on the main drag through town so lots of exposure for folks to give it a try. My House Special Calzone had sooo much piping hot cheese and meats and veggies! The Hawaiian pineapple pizza was heavenly and the Stromboli spinach and feta cheese absolutely delicious. First time here and we're planning on a return visit in very near future! Revisited recently solo and had a Grecian style chicken on rice that comes with Greek salad and bread sticks with marinara sauce. Delicious!

Went for lunch and had the pizza all you can eat with salad bar. Pizza is above average (average being Dominos or Little Cesars) Was able to request a pizza of my choice to be put out on the bar. The salad bar is good for its size. Service was quite good. Parking can be a little tricky in this area but worse case drive around a little and you'll get a spot. Over all a real good experience.

I’ve been a regular at Roadside Cafe for a while now, and it’s hands-down one of my favorite spots in town. The food here is consistently delicious—whether you’re grabbing breakfast or lunch, they never disappoint. The menu has something for everyone, and every dish I’ve tried has been packed with flavor and made with care. The service is another reason I keep coming back. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always makes you feel right at home. They’re quick without rushing you, which is a perfect balance. And the atmosphere? It’s very cozy—great for a solo meal or catching up with friends. It’s got this welcoming vibe that’s hard to find at most other places. One standout feature is their coffee. You’re not stuck with the watered-down American drip you’d get at some gas station or other local joints. Here, they serve up Starbucks-quality brews—rich, bold, and exactly what I need to kickstart my day. It’s a game-changer and sets Roadside Cafe apart from the rest. It's worth coming just for the coffee. If you haven’t checked this place out yet, do yourself a favor and stop by—you won’t be disappointed!

Pam's Place is like one of those "hidden treasures" in a small town, that you used to read about in magazines. It's only open for breakfast and lunch, and despite how busy it always is, there always seems to be a table available, due to the amazing service of the wait staff. The food is exquisite. Every bite tastes like something you would eat at your mother's or grandmother's. The price is very reasonable, and below what you would expect to pay. It's not uncommon to see the owner working in the kitchen, the dining room, or interacting with the patrons. Most of the clientele are of the older generation, and they are very loyal, and that should speak volumes! If you're just passing through, or visiting the heart of downtown Ringgold, stop by and grab a bite while you're there! It's only a few miles off the interstate. You won't regret it!! It's my grandfather's favorite spot too!

Vocelli Pizza delivers the perfect pizza experience! Their pies are fresh, hot, and exactly what pizza should be. The crust has the ideal balance of crispness and chew, the toppings are always fresh and generously applied, and the cheese melts beautifully into every bite. Whether you’re grabbing a classic like pepperoni or indulging in one of their specialty options, the quality and care in every slice shine through. Vocelli Pizza has become my go-to spot whenever I’m craving a truly satisfying and delicious pizza. Highly recommend!

We were sad when Your Pie closed, but Vocelli Pizza moved in; and we are here for it! We tend to order cheese pizza for the kids. I like the pepperoni. We’ve also ordered sausage and veggies. All delicious! I actually like Vocelli better than Pizza Bros. They have the best chocolate chip cookies too. They’re so soft and chewy and chocolatey and amazing! I did try the Stromboli once. I was not a fan, so now we just stick to the pizza. They do pizza right and staff is always friendly.

Edit: changing my 4 stars to 5. No, it isn't the best pizza you can get in the chattanooga area but if you use the coupons you can get a really good, affordable pizza that's 10x better than your average places (pizza hut, dominios etc). They also have tap beer ! We got the stromboli and the meat pizza. They were both great, pizza was a little better in my opinion. I like how everything was cooked at a high tempature, giving it a brick oven feel. The stromboli was huge and could be easily shared with two. However, it did only come with small cup of marinara and we thought everything could use a little bit more cheese. Prices were a little high, about $35 for two people. I would really like to see more cheese options such as a fresh mozerella and ricotta! Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will be back to try new options.

If i could leave 0 stars i would; Got sat at 7:00pm and got brought our drinks pretty quickly but they forgot my toddlers drink. Then take two other peoples orders , drinks, serve TWO whole other tables and finally walk over at 7:45pm and ask “y’all ready to order?” I said “can we just pay for our sweet tea we’d like to go elsewhere” and she said “you need another sweet tea?” and walked off for another 15 minutes then came back and asked again if we were ready to order , still no sweet tea!! lol So we just left , what a joke!

WATCH YOUR CHANGE!!!! Young girl at register cannot count! At first she got me for five dollars then when I questioned it took her forever to figure it out then she still got me for $1 . 10/5/24 lunch and had the Pollo Picante as the menu said if you like it hot, found it not to be hot as described. Rather mild with not much flavor. Chips and salsa were ok, salsa could use a bit of heat!

I would have given five stars if they served fresh pineapples. I ordered pineapples for my tacos and received canned pineapples. I don't like canned pineapples, so that was disappointing to pay for something I didn't like. But the food was good, I liked the chips & the salsa but it needs a little bit more spice a spicier option.

First, our server Kylie was very attentive and we received great service. I used to work at cracker barrel years ago and it seems like the food has severly gone down hill. My plate was nothing but grease. The biscuits were hard. There was stuff floating in my glass. The hashbrown casserole has really changed or was not cooked right at this one.

We waited 45 minutes for a half filled plate of cold, sad chicken fingers, and okra. When the fries showed up, they were actually hot, but smashed. We also ordered a salad, which would have been fine, but it showed up with the wrong dressing, which then took 7-10 minutes to replace. Water was never refilled. The waitress was sweet, but overwhelmed. However, I watched her stand almost out of sight the whole time I was staring at my lettuce for 10ish mins, waiting for my dressing. When we went to pay and were asked how the service and food was, my husband replied, "terrible, both were terrible". When asked if we would like to talk to a manager, he declined. We just wanted to leave. Meanwhile, another lady walked up and said, "you aren't the only one." Then she proceeded to talk about how her food was disappointing as well, cold, half-filled plates, slow service. Anyway... this is the last time we will go to a Cracker Barrel. What used to be a roadtrip fave has been dispointing. And it was disappointing the last time we decided to go to this chain in the recent past at a different location in a different state. So, no thanks.

Used to be good, now the food sucks. Mashed potatoes and gravy was so awful I didn't even give it to my dogs, grilled chicken was a weird texture & bland. The Mac n cheese, which used to be THE BEST, now tastes bland & flavorless. I won't be back as this is the 3rd time I've had the same experience.
